If you like the idea of becoming an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and teaching people to drive for money then we can point you in the right direction and help you through every step. Becoming a driving instructor will give you a whole new skill set for a job that can last for life whether it be a full time career or a part time plan for later life.

Don't under estimate the high level of skills needed to become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), This is a professional job that requires A high standard of driving ability and an extensive knowledge of all the driving subjects that range from putting on a seat belt and starting the engine to first aid and mechanical car principals. Being a friendly, patient and reliable teacher will put you in good stead for a long lasting career, a good teacher will be remembered by a pupil for life.

To qualify as an ADI you must have a full British or Northern Ireland driving licence and held it for 4 years, not have been disqualified in the last 4 years and you will be subject to a criminal records (CRB) check. The examination process is split into 3 separate tests:

Part 1 Theory and hazard perception test
Part 2 Eyesight and driving ability test
Part 3 Test of ability to instruct

The Kites Method

There isn't going to be a conference with free tea and nibbles, you wont get a free T shirt and a pen and most importantly we are not going to ask you to sign a contract and hand over thousands of pounds. We will ask you to call or meet for an informal chat about the whole process of becoming an ADI and explain how we can guide you through Parts 1, 2 and 3 in an affordable pay as you go method. Lessons can be arranged to suit you with morning evening and weekend times available, we can even do intensive style day courses.

After passing part 2 you can become a licensed trainee instructor and start to teaching and earning money. This can easily be achieved in less than 3 months and get you well on the way to becoming an ADI.
